JOB INFORMATION

Job Title: Behavior Specialist Reports to: Educational Leader Hours: 40 Hours / 10 months Office Location: Brooklyn Center Salary Range: 42,500+

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Educational Leader and the SpEd Director plays an integral part in the SpEd department centering around providing positive behavior interventions. He/she collaborates with teachers, staff and families to develop and implement a Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) that aligns with the students Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA). Additionally, he/she coordinates and ensures all case noting and documentations abide by local and state guidelines and are protected by HIPAA laws. This includes working directly with Case Managers, teachers, administrators, SpEd Director/ Coordinator and other individuals on the students support team to support behavior goals. Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on results from the FBA Collects and analyzes data to inform data-based decisions Model, support, and provide feedback to relevant school staff on the implementation of BIPs Collaborate with building administrators, school staff, and professional learning communities to ensure student needs are being met Design and implement professional learning on core classroom management expectations and targeted behavior strategies Maintain student records of services provided, following due process best practices and compliance Participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings, as appropriate Perform other related duties, as assigned Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree in education, psychology, social work, behavior analysis, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges. Strong understanding of PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred: Masters degree in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or related field. BCBA certification or coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Experience in urban education or charter school settings. Familiarity with special education processes and IDEA compliance.
