Location : Temple 

Employment Type : Full Time, Exempt

Shift: 1 st Shift

Travel : Assigned to a site but may require infrequent travel for coverage.

Work Schedule : 40 hrs/wk, 4-10 hour days per week (3 days off) Shifts start at 7am or 9am

Job Summary:  

As a Data Center Operator reporting to the Site Manager, your role centers on enhancing mining operations, leveraging a deep understanding of the operational infrastructure and expert knowledge of bitcoin mining. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include operational availability response, reporting, auditing, and inspections. You will also potentially assist with fabrication and large projects. This role will be instrumental in responding to infrastructure failures and essential to ensuring our mining facility achieves optimal profitability. In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with Miner Repair Technicians, Site Maintenance, and the Special Projects team.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize proprietary software to control and monitor mining operations.
  • Perform daily reporting using Microsoft office suite and other platforms.
  • Review and compile data to assess performance and make operational decisions that optimize the mining operations.
  • Ensure that infrastructure, including pumps, fans, dry coolers, etc is monitored and optimized to allow the best mining performance possible.
  • Perform daily inspections of a variety of infrastructure items including plumbing leaks, electrical operations, etc.
  • Preparing sites, materials, and tools to support daily operational needs; escalating to Site Management on material needs as needed.
  • Collaborate with Site Maintenance to assist with all maintenance tasks that require an extra pair of hands.
  • Transport and operate equipment such as Fork Trucks and Scissor Lifts to perform routine operational duties.
  • Interact respectfully with site owners and other vendor teams, including foreman and company management. 
  • Comply with all safety requirements, including OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Strive to reach expert level knowledge on the infrastructure that supports our mining operation.
  • May provide support on an as needed basis for the following site operations tasks:
    • Welding, fabrication, pipe fitting, fan & motor maintenance, small engine maintenance and other routine infrastructure and equipment maintenance.
    • Replace network switches, as well as network and power cabling.
    • Perform janitorial tasks including sweeping, squeegeeing, dusting, brooming, waste disposal, etc to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the site operations.
    • Assist contractors and other departments as needed.
    • Operate heavy machinery such as Sky Tracks, boom lifts and other machinery as needed (certifications required).
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Prior technical or construction/laborer experience preferred.
  • Prior mining experience at scale is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of bitcoin mining machines maintenance and operations preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined – has an aptitude for mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor, often in high-heat situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, communication, and results oriented.  

Physical Demands:

The Data Center Operator must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, stoop, pull, and bend. Must be able to endure prolonged periods of standing, and walking– repetitive motion of hands, fingers, back, and wrists.   Manual work: lifting up to 30 lbs, extended reach and overhead work.
