Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong background in paving and asphalt work to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for asphalt paving, milling, and grading for site-work projects. NCDOT and Municipality estimating a plus. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and understands the production, materials, and pricing that drive profitable paving operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, milling, patching, and related site-work projects
• Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs for paving, base, grading, and related scopes
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and material pricing
• Develop unit pricing and job-specific pricing based on production rates and historical data
• Work closely with project managers and field personnel to validate scope, means, and methods
• Identify potential risks, omissions, and value-engineering opportunities in bid documents
• Maintain organized bid files, takeoffs, and pricing records
• Assist with post-bid reviews and project handoff to operations

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of construction estimating experience, with a strong emphasis on asphalt paving
• Working knowledge of paving operations, materials, and production rates
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications
• Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Experience with DOT, municipal, or commercial paving projects preferred
