Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.

This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).

ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE SOCIAL SCIENCES PROGRAMS AT NORMANDALE

Normandale Community College is seeking Adjunct Instructors to join our Social Sciences Departments. Normandale's Social Sciences disciplines that will need adjunct instructors are: Anthropology, Communication, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree with a major in the Social Sciences field you are apply for or

Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in Social Sciences field you are apply for.

Preferred Qualifications

Coursework beyond the Master's degree

Post-secondary teaching experience

Experience serving diverse and underserved populations

An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population

Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L

Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches

Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom

Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students

Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding students
