Overview
An Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging with the community, connecting individuals to essential resources, and raising awareness about social programs. They play a key role in ensuring underserved populations receive the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Community Engagement : Build relationships with local organizations, individuals, and stakeholders to promote services.
- Event Coordination : Organize workshops, training sessions, and information events.
- Resource Connection : Link community members to essential services such as healthcare, employment assistance, and housing support.
- Advocacy & Education : Raise awareness about issues affecting the community and provide support.
- Data Collection & Reporting : Track outreach efforts and report program impact.
- Social Media & Communication : Assist in promoting programs through digital and community channels.
Qualifications
- Education : A high school diploma is often required; a bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience : 1-5 years of experience in community outreach, social services, or advocacy work.
- Communication Skills : Ability to engage with diverse communities and build strong relationships.
- Public Speaking & Community Engagement : Comfort speaking to groups and leading outreach events.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability : Ability to handle challenges and tailor outreach efforts to different populations.
Organizational Skills : Experience with event planning, coordinating services, and managing documentation.
