We are hiring a Resident Service Specialist for one of our clients in Alexandria, VA .

Job Description:

• The Resident Services Specialist provides direct support and guidance to individuals residing in the homeless shelter and hypothermia support locations, ensuring their well-being and progress towards self-sufficiency.
• This role involves assisting residents with daily needs, addressing immediate concerns, monitoring compliance with shelter rules, supporting resource distribution, and de-escalating conflicts.
• The Specialist also connects residents with appropriate resources, facilitates access to services, and encourages participation in programs that promote stability and personal growth.
• The Specialist is also responsible for completing necessary reports and documentation for each scheduled shift.
• This position may require standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.

Skills Required:

• Experience working with adults experiencing homeless, diagnosed with behavior health disorders or are substance dependent.
• Counseling and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Basic computers skills to maintain data in a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Experience Required:

• 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Education Required:

• High School Diploma

Education Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in human service field

Work hours:

• Schedule: - hours the assignment will have: Full time, 40hrs a week, various shifts (8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am) Part time, 14 24hr and /or on-call End Date: TBD (1 3-month assignment)

Additional Information:

• Please outline requirements of background screening Basic Criminal Background Check Drug screen- 10 panel Criminal Background Check required, Driver's Licence required
• Various Locations in East and South Fairfax County based upon a rotating schedule of supporting places of worship.
• How many positions are needed: several positions needed Length of Assignment: TBD (1 3-month assignment)
• Travel Required: travel to various locations in the County may be required
• OT Expected: TBD, but potential for OT
• Would the selected candidate drive for this assignment? No
• Would the selected candidate be handling money? No
• Would the selected candidate be lifting, climbing, etc?: Yes, up to 20lbs to support at the shelter locations and participating hypothermia sites.
