About Houston

 

ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

We are looking for a creative thinker with an eye for detail and a passion for teamwork and collaboration. Ideal candidates are professional with excellent organizational skills and a track record for delivering results to support multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment. 


In our Upstream P&GA team, you will:

  • Promote ExxonMobil’s leading performance and advantaged portfolio in the Upstream business.
  • Track and manage public policy issues of consequence for ExxonMobil’s Upstream business.
  • Assist the Upstream business in developing and implementing integrated advocacy and communication strategies to promote business goals and objectives within the communities where we operate.
  • Provide strategic advice; identify and capture business opportunities.
  • Work to effectively tell the ExxonMobil story using human, persuasive, modern, and frequent communications both internally and externally.
  • This role is based in Spring, TX. 

What you will do

 

  • Provide strategic counsel to business-line leaders, including briefing and preparing executives for government meetings, community interface or media interviews 
  • Anticipate, develop, and implement strong advocacy plans and messages with a sense of urgency. 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure positive engagement with external stakeholders 
  • Calibrate priorities of the business objectives to the rest of the P&GA team and vice versa, with a focus on general interest in creating overall Corp value. 
  • Foster cross-P&GA collaboration to fully leverage organization’s capabilities. 
  • Be prepared to effectively support the business in a crisis. 
  • Represent ExxonMobil at external meetings and engagements. 

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, government relations, advocacy, or a similar role 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships 
  • Influential communicator, capable of persuading and guiding without direct authority 
  • Quick comprehension and articulation of complex topics 
  • Keen interest and understanding of matters pertaining to energy, economics, the environment, corporate responsibility, and government affairs 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines 
  • Strong writing and editing skills with experience in AP style writing 
  • Willingness to change roles to, develop a broad understanding of ExxonMobil’s key business lines, and the different functions within P&GA
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, and familiarity with the dynamics of a vast, global enterprise
