About Us:   Laurel Bakery opened early April 2024 from the Redwood Hospitality, the team behind Oxalis and Place des Fêtes. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming atmosphere for all our guests and are looking for a skilled Barista to join our team.

Job Summary:   As a Barista at Laurel Bakery, you will be the heart of our customer experience, responsible for crafting delicious coffee and tea beverages and serving our baked pastries and breads while providing friendly and efficient service. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive and welcoming environment for our guests. For this position, we are looking for someone with open availability. This role is part-time to start (Saturdays & Sundays, plus the potential for one weekday) with room to grow into a full-time position. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages to the highest standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Provide excellent customer service, including handling inquiries and providing recommendations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and seating areas.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet the bakery's goals and uphold our community-focused ethos.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar role in the hospitality industry.
• Passion for coffee and enthusiasm for learning about our products and menu.
• Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
• Flexibility with scheduling, including weekends and holidays - Saturdays & Sundays are a must
• Knowledge of specialty coffee and tea preparations
• Ability to dial in an espresso machine and grinder
• Responsible and cleanly workplace habits
• Milk frothing and latte art skills 
• Cash handling skills
• Ability to work early mornings
