Position Overview: Newcastle Elementary School, a part of Newcastle Public Schools, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Title I Reading Teacher’s Assistant for the 2025–2026 school year. This position is federally funded and will assist in providing targeted reading instruction and intervention to students who qualify for Title I support. Newcastle Public Schools operates on a four-day school week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to support reading instruction and literacy development
Provide one-on-one or small group reading intervention to identified students
Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining instructional records
Help prepare and organize instructional materials
Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement instructional plans
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Perform other duties as assigned related to instructional support
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Must meet federal Title I paraprofessional qualifications:
Completion of at least 48 college credit hours, or
Associate degree or higher, or
Successful completion of the Oklahoma General Education Paraprofessional Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
Basic literacy and math competency
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with elementary-age children in an instructional setting
Familiarity with literacy strategies and reading intervention programs
Ability to collaborate with staff and follow instructional plans
Patience, consistency, and a commitment to student growth
